I am delighted curator Alice Strang has agreed to mentor me as I embark on a significant, long-term project.

Alice is passionate about modern and contemporary art. Her focus is on British, particularly Scottish, art from approximately 1900 to 1975, with a special interest in women artists. She has over twenty-five years’ experience as a national gallery senior curator and as an international auction house specialist.

Alice is a BBC Expert Woman and a Saltire Society Outstanding Woman of Scotland.

She has been responsible for many major exhibitions, accompanied by publications, including those on modern Scottish women painters and sculptors, the Scottish Colourists F. C. B. Cadell, S. J. Peploe and J. D. Fergusson, 20th-century Scottish Art and modern British art.

She regularly lectures and writes about her areas of expertise, including at the Universities of Cambridge, Edinburgh and London and for the British Art Journal, Scottish Art News and for the Scottish Society of Art History.

She posts a work a day on twitter and instagram from a UK public collection, linking current affairs to art with a positive outlook.

Alice and I share the believe that everyone can enjoy, learn from and be inspired by modern and contemporary art.
