With an introduction by Dr. Arie Hartog, Director of Gerhard-Marcks-Haus. There are two beautifully written essays by art historian Alice Strang and museum curator Mirjam Verhey-Focke giving in-depth context and reflections into the artists practice.

Alice Strang is an independent Curator and Art Historian and a Senior Specialist in Modern and Contemporary Art at Lyon & Turnbull auctioneers. Whilst a Senior Curator at the National Galleries of Scotland, she curated many exhibitions and wrote or edited many publications about Modern and Contemporary Scottish and British Art. Mirjam Verhey-Focke M.A. studied art history and German language and literature at Heinrich-Heine-University Düsseldorf, followed by a traineeship at the Benrath Palace and Park Foundation, Düsseldorf. Since 2018, she has been a curator at the Gerhard-Marcks-Haus, Bremen. She curates exhibitions on 20th– and 21st-century sculpture. Her thematic focus is on female sculptors, figurative positions, iconography and sculpture of the interwar period in Germany.
